Alistair, Alisdair, Alisdair, Simon, James, Jim, Stuart, Tony (from the Grampian group) and Graham met for the monthly meeting on a wet June Saturday. A fairly routine session followed.
Stuart was working on modifying the Faller roadway system for his layout, part of which is planned to appear at the September mini-meet.
Alistair was completing the backscene for our host club's coarse-N layout, spurred on by the revelation that an open day is planned for tomorrow, and the backscene might as well be completed for that.
Tony and Alisdair were chewing the fat, at least when the photographer went past. Mearns shed was being worked on from time to time.
Jim was designing an etched underframe for a Caledonian Railway cattle van; the body (in his hand) is a True Line Models 3D design for 4mm scale, printed at 1:152. A work in progress.
Alisdair was pondering the next stage of his Highland Railway Big Goods. The loco is still in the erecting shop but the various parts were assembled and posed in front of the coaling stage on Mearns Shed. The boiler is hand-rolled from sheet metal, with "foundation rings"at front, back and intermediate points filed up from sheet to the appropriate shape. The slide bar design, apparently, is unsatisfactory and will be revised.
By the end of the afternoon, Alistair's backscene finishing touches were dry, and it was ceremoniously fitted to the ESME layout to general approval.
And that was it - we tidied up and squelched home. The 2mmSA Further North roadshow will be at the Perth exhibition in two weeks' time - if you're passing, do stop and say hello.
